Employees Crave Better Feedback
March 15, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am
The number one job of a supervisor is to develop their people. Providing feedback to employees that reinforce what they are doing or if they need to be redirected is an important piece of the performance management piece. Workplace surveys consistently show that employees crave better information about how they could improve their performance. But most say they don’t get it. A Gallup poll, for example, found only 26% of employees strongly believe the feedback they receive helps them do their work better. A McKinsey survey of 12,000 managers indicated they consider “candid, insightful feedback critical to career development. So the message is clear, they know it helps.
So why is there another international employee survey found that 72% of respondents rated “managers providing critical feedback” as important for them in career development, and yet only 5% believe managers provide such feedback?
This program is designed for managers and supervisors who want to improve their feedback process. We’ll discuss:
- What gets in the way of providing feedback and overcoming the obstacles
- How to provide balanced, quality, and meaningful feedback
- Techniques to provide feedback without offending
- Examples and frameworks will be provided to attendees
