Laurie Grenya is President of HR Answers, Inc. and a trusted expert in human resources with more than 20 years of experience. She leads a consulting team focused on classification, compensation, compliance, and practical HR support. Known for her no-nonsense, human-first approach, Laurie brings clarity and humor to even the most complex HR topics. Whether mentoring new HR professionals or advising executive teams, she prioritizes communication, curiosity, and consistent as the foundation for strong HR partnerships. 

Deborah Jeffries

SHRM-CP, PHR, CPC; VIce PResident

Deborah Jeffries, SHRM-CP, PHR, CPC, is Vice President and Senior Trainer at HR Answers, Inc. With over 40 years in Human Resources, she specializes in employee relations, compliance, recruitment, and training. Deborah partners with organizations to improve workplace culture, communication, and leadership. Her engaging training covers harassment prevention, diversity, inclusion, employee retention, and supervisory success. Deborah also has experience in education, marketing, sales, manufacturing, and hospitality. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Willamette University and has taught at several universities, preparing HR professionals and business leaders for SHRM certification. A dedicated SHRM member, Deborah is known for her passion for people, accessible facilitation style, and commitment to organizational success.

Anna Lee

SHRM-SCP, PSHRA-SCP; Senior Consultant

Anna Lee is one of our Senior Consultants and has over 20 years of human resources experience in leadership roles with governmental, profit and non-profit agencies. Her previous experience in a variety of disciplines and work environments provides her a global HR perspective. Anna is a Senior Certified Human Resource Professional with Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP) as well as Senior Certified Human Resource Professional with Public Sector Human Resources Association (PSHRA-SCP). She has a passion for effective supportive management, process refinement and a keen sense of working toward mutually beneficial outcomes within best business practice.

Marcelle Sannen

J.D., PHR; Professional Consultant

Marcelle has over 20 years of experience in human resources, compliance, and organizational development. Her empathetic nature is at the forefront as she guides clients through sensitive and complex workplace issues with insight and care. She holds a JD from the University of Oregon, is PHR certified, and brings a practical, legally informed perspective to every engagement. She works with clients to strengthen HR practices, ensure compliance, and support effective people management strategies. Her areas of expertise include employee relations, compliance, policy administration, and organizational development.

With experience across public, non-profit and private sectors, she brings expertise in employee relations, strategic planning, and talent development. Jennifer builds partnerships that foster growth, accountability, and engagement at every level of the organization. Her career reflects a deep commitment to fostering cultures of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Rebecca Vales

Senior Consultant

Rebecca Vales is a seasoned HR professional with over 25 years of experience specializing in classification and compensation, compliance, HR policy development, protected leave administration and HR strategy. As a Senior Consultant at HR Answers, she leads complex projects, blending technical expertise with practical solutions tailored to each client. Her background spans Oregon state government and consulting, with strengths in job analysis, policy development, and executive advising. Known for her creative, clear, and engaging approach, Rebecca makes complex HR topics accessible and actionable for diverse audiences.

Jennifer Schmidt

Operations Manager

Jennifer has over 25 years of operations management experience. During her time at HR Answers, Jennifer has had the opportunity to be involved with a variety of technology, marketing, and accounting initiatives in addition to her office management responsibilities. She is a key resource for our internal team, collaborates with external partners, and provides customer service support. She enjoys problem solving, identifying process improvement opportunities, and loves a good checklist.

Rachelle Hogue

Operations Analyst

Rachelle supports the HR Answers team across Accounting, Marketing, Client Management, and Business Operations. With a background in business, accounting, and social media, she blends technical know-how with creative problem-solving. Whether she’s building websites, managing data, or supporting clients, Rachelle helps things run smoothly every day. You’ll often hear from her when you call or see her at events. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her nieces, nephew, extended family, and five pets.

Stella

ESA - Office Pup Volunteer

Stella brings joy, wiggles, and unmatched snack-sensing abilities to the office every day. She’s responsible for hallway patrols, visitor greetings, and thorough food inspections. When she’s not supervising window activity or offering emotional support in the form of tail wags and cuddles, you’ll find her curled up for a well-deserved nap. With a curly tail and a heart full of loyalty, Stella is the soul of our office pack.
