Workplace Civility and Etiquette
February 1, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
As employees have returned to the workplace after the pandemic employers have noticed challenges with some manners and behaviors from employees. Focusing on eliminating negative behaviors isn’t always enough to create a happy and collaborative workplace. Employees and managers also need to learn what they should do to make their environment a respectful and friendly one.
Etiquette helps to build trust and confidence between management and employees, between employees, and with customers and other business leaders. While a training program on workplace manners and courtesy may seem like overkill, the reality is: rudeness and conflict are an epidemic costing businesses millions of dollars every year. In this course we will cover how to create a happier, healthier workplace by explaining the necessity of civility and setting a good example with your own behavior to help set the stage. We will also explore:
- How to replace negative language with positive words
- Tips to facilitate communication skills such as active listening and appreciative inquiry
- What microaggressions look like in action and how to stand up for yourself when you experience microaggressions and incivility
- Suggestions for conflict resolution
- The role of forgiveness plays in our day-to-day interactions
