HR Lunch Bunch: Your Activities for Supervisor Training

August 4 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Effective supervisors do not grow on trees. Supervisory positions carry a high level of responsibility. We expect them to be the eyes, ears, and the protectors of our organizations all while creating a positive work relationship with those they supervise. So how are we preparing them for this role? There are some essential skills supervisors need to have and some competencies they need to be able to apply to do the job effectively. With many individuals there are some of these pieces that come from within themselves and there are skills they can learn. So, what are you doing to make sure they have what they need to be as effective as possible and understand the expectations of being a supervisor?

As for education, it is important to understand the different approaches you can take in increasing the learning, the development, and the skill building to supervise others. There are formal and informal approaches to education that can help you (and them) reach the goal.

This month’s discussion will focus on what you are currently doing (or not doing) and what you can do to augment your current training activities for Supervisors. Please join Deborah Jeffries from HR Answers for this 1hr discussion. Please bring your questions and your ideas to the conversation – and feel free to invite a colleague too.

This is your meeting and is intended to be a facilitated discussion (not a class, but we hope education takes place too).

Come prepared to participate and bring along your questions.  This is a great time and place to share your “tools and learnings” with other attendees.
