Chris Sheesley, MA

Chris is the President of In-Accord Inc. and serves as a full-time professional in the conflict management field. He applies his deep expertise to facilitate resolutions to particularly challenging workplace conflicts. As a practitioner since 1991, Chris has conducted more than 1,250 mediation and facilitation cases across the spectrum of work settings. He has served on more than eighteen conflict management rosters including Oregon Health and Sciences University, City of Portland, US Postal Service, Wellspring EAP, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Providence EAP, United Employers Association, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and others. He strives to help employees achieve solutions to disputes, restore productivity and improve working relationships.

He has amassed over 5,000 hours of experience teaching people dispute resolution and related skills. Chris has delivered effective training to a range of clientele from small non-profits to large federal agencies. Recent examples include “Managing Staff Conflict: Applying Mediation Skills in Supervisory Situations” for the Port of Portland and NW Natural; “Informal Complaint Resolution” for Oregon Health and Sciences University’s Human Resources Department. Chris is the lead instructor for the Conflict Resolution in the Workplace certificate program at Portland State University’s Professional Development Center.

His Bachelor of Arts degree in Conflict Resolution is from American University in Washington, D.C. where he was the first student to complete this degree. His Master of Arts in Organizational Communication is from Marylhurst University. His thesis explored the sources of employee resistance to offers of mediation.

Chris’s commitment to conflict resolution is rooted in his conviction that effective interpersonal communication is essential to transforming conflicts into opportunities for growth and change. Chris offers clients a fresh and unbiased perspective.
