OREGON PAY EQUITY ACT

This is a reminder that effective October 6, 2017, employers may no longer ask any applicant at any stage of the application process about their past compensation or pay.  It is permissible to ask about salary or hourly wages desired during the screening process or on the employment application.  No additional conversation about that information would be appropriate.

This is part of the new Oregon Pay Equity Act that was signed into law in August.  It is critical that everyone involved in the hiring or screening process understand and abide by this change.
