With the passing of Senate Bill 454 by the 2015 Oregon Legislature, BOLI has updated its website and developed a poster which will satisfy the requirements that employers notify employees of the sick time requirements.  This poster is not mandatory, and employers are free to develop their own notice.

Please remember, however, that employers are required to provide a quarterly notice of sick time accrual as well as a notice regarding the hardship exemption pertaining to increments of sick leave.  These notices will be posted on the BOLI website.

Technical Assistance for Employers will continue to update the Frequently Asked Questions on our website.  Training on the new sick time requirements will be conducted throughout Oregon, and the flyer with dates and locations will be posted by December 10.  The training sessions will be 2 hours and will have a registration fee of $25 per attendee.

The holiday season is approaching quickly, and training sessions are often not well attended during this time.  Technical Assistance has located training space in Portland and will conduct a training session on Friday, December 18, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.  We will need at least 25 attendees to conduct this seminar.  If you are interested in attending this seminar, please respond to Jennifer.Germundson@state.or.us by December 9, 2015.

Thank you to Jennifer Germundson, Manager, Technical Assistance for Employers Program at BOLI for this important information.
